WJCT Public Media is the community-owned and operated public media organization serving Jacksonville and the First Coast of Northeast Florida. Its licensee, WJCT, Inc., is a nonprofit that has run PBS member television station WJCT since its first broadcast in September 1958 and NPR member radio station WJCT-FM since April 1972. The organization uses television, radio, digital media and live events to help community members learn, share and grow.
Its brands include Jax PBS (WJCT, channel 7), WJCT News 89.9 FM and Jacksonville Today, a digital-first local newsroom that WJCT launched in 2021 as a daily email newsletter in response to the decline of local news reporting in the region and has since grown into a full news site. The Jacksonville Music Experience (JME) is its music brand, with live events and programs, and the station's HD channels carry Classical 24, Anthology and Jacksonville's Jazz Radio. Radio programs include First Coast Connect, WJCT News Now and The Florida Roundup, and WJCT-FM is the primary Emergency Alert System station for the First Coast and the Greater Jacksonville area.
Beyond broadcasting, WJCT runs Jax PBS KIDS services and Family and Community Learning workshops for families at early childhood centers, a Radio Reading Service, film screenings and events at WJCT Studios, and the WJCT Soundstage and studio rentals. Its studios and offices are at 100 Festival Park Avenue in the Stadium District of Downtown Jacksonville.
WJCT hires across television and radio production, engineering, finance, journalism, corporate support sales, education, facilities and events, and offers internships for students. Applications go to its human resources department at jobs@wjct.org.
