Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 17, 2026
publicmedia.careers is a job board for the U.S. public media community, operated by Livingston Associates (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the board, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you create an account, apply for a job, subscribe to job alerts, or post a job as an employer, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, resume or CV, cover letter, profile details, and job or company details.
Sign-in with Google
If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address, whether the address is verified, and your profile picture. We request only the openid, email, and profile scopes and receive no other Google data. You can revoke this access at any time in your Google account settings.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites we receive your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the referring site. We use cookies for sign-in sessions, your preferences, and, if you accept them, analytics that tell us which pages and jobs are popular.
How we use it
- To run the board: accounts, applications, job alerts, employer postings, and messages between applicants and employers.
- To pass your application to the employer whose job you applied for.
- To send the emails you asked for, such as job alerts and application updates. You can unsubscribe from alerts at any time.
- To keep the board secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the board is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Employers
When you apply for a job, the employer receives your application, including your resume and contact details. The employer's own privacy practices apply from that point.
Cavuno, our platform provider
The board runs on Cavuno, a job board platform operated by Wollemia Pty Ltd. Cavuno processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement, primarily in the United States, using the subprocessors it lists at cavuno.com/subprocessors. Those include the database, hosting, email delivery, and payment services the board depends on, and AI services used for features such as resume parsing and job matching.
Others
We share information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of the board and its users.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and profile while your account is active. Job alert subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Applications are kept so that employers can review them and so we can answer questions about them; you can ask us to delete yours. Expired job postings stay on the board only as long as they are useful to job seekers, then are removed.
Your choices and rights
- Update or delete your profile from your account settings.
- Unsubscribe from job alerts with the link in any alert email.
- Ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing the address below. We answer within 30 days.
- Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws may exercise the rights those laws provide through the same address. We do not discriminate against you for exercising them.
Children
The board is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date. Significant changes will also be announced on the board.
