About

Public Media Careers is a free job board for public media created and provided for free by Livingston Associates. You'll find openings at NPR and PBS member stations, statewide networks, independent radio and television stations, and the nonprofits and production companies that work with them.

Why we started it

The closing of the CPB Job Board left a gap in our system for stations of all sizes. Today, finding a job in public media often means checking dozens of station websites and general job boards. We created this board to make those openings easier to find and help employers reach people interested in public media.

The listings cover jobs in engineering, IT, membership, development, underwriting, marketing and digital, as well as general manager, CEO and other leadership positions.

For job seekers

Browse openings by role, location or employer, and sign up for job alerts if you'd like to hear about new postings. Listings link directly to the employer's application.

You don't need a profile to browse or apply. Creating one lets you save jobs, apply faster and make yourself visible to employers.

For employers

Posting is free, doesn't require membership to any organization, and there are no limits on the number of openings. Stations, networks, public broadcasting licensee universities and mission-driven organizations serving public media can create an employer account, add a company profile and post jobs. Listings stay up for 30 days and can be renewed. For added visibility, you can highlight your job posting for $249.

Who runs it

Public Media Careers is a project of Livingston Associates, an executive search, strategy and coaching firm serving public media since 1997.

We've led more than 400 searches for stations, networks and licensee universities, including over 175 at the executive level. We've also built an extensive database of public media resumes. Through that work, we've seen the need for a free, open job board where people can find opportunities across the field.

Livingston Associates does not charge for the board or use it to recruit candidates for our searches. When we list a position we've been hired to fill, we clearly identify it as a Livingston Associates search. Candidates can apply through the board or contact the firm directly.
