WUOT 91.9 FM is the NPR member station for Knoxville and East Tennessee, licensed to the University of Tennessee. It airs news, classical music and jazz, and has served the region since 1949 as Tennessee's first noncommercial educational station.

WUOT 91.9 FM is a listener-supported public radio station licensed to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A member of NPR and an affiliate of the Public Radio Exchange and American Public Media, it broadcasts news, classical music and jazz 24 hours a day from studios in the Communications Building on the UT Knoxville campus, with its transmitter on Sharp's Ridge.

The station went on the air on October 27, 1949, from the basement of Ayres Hall, as the first noncommercial educational station in Tennessee. Future U.S. Senator Howard H. Baker Jr., then president of UT's Student Government Association, helped persuade the university to start it. WUOT marked its 75th anniversary in 2024.

WUOT serves listeners throughout East Tennessee and parts of Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia, and streams at wuot.org. A second channel, WUOT-2, is available on HD Radio, internet radio and the web. The newsroom is a partner in the Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom, an NPR regional collaboration with West Virginia Public Broadcasting, WPLN, LPM, WEKU, WKMS and WKU Public Radio, and the station also produces local arts and music interviews. An independent 501(c)(3), 91.9 Inc., supports the station through advocacy, fundraising and outreach.

WUOT is a unit of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and hires through the university's career site. Its work spans news reporting and hosting, music programming, membership and corporate support, communications and broadcast engineering, and the station works with students from UT's College of Communication and Information as interns every semester.
