New Orleans Public Radio

New Orleans Public Radio is the NPR member station for Southeast Louisiana, home of WWNO 89.9 FM, Classical 104.9 FM and Jazz 89.9 HD3. It is licensed to and operated by LSU New Orleans, formerly the University of New Orleans.

New Orleans Public Radio is a member-supported news and cultural organization that tells Southeast Louisiana's stories. Its flagship, WWNO 89.9 FM, is an NPR member station that signed on in February 1972, and KTLN 90.5 FM in Thibodaux is part of the same station group. The organization is licensed to and operated by LSU New Orleans, known as the University of New Orleans from 1974 until it took back its LSU name in 2026. Its studios and offices are on the fourth floor of the Earl K. Long Library on the university's Lakeshore Drive campus.

WWNO carries a news and information format with NPR programs such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and its signal reaches Southeast Louisiana and part of southwest Mississippi. The local newsroom, which shares newscasts and the daily program Louisiana Considered with WRKF in Baton Rouge, reports on public health, the environment, education and politics, along with racial and economic inequities in the region. The station is also a partner in the Gulf States Newsroom, a regional collaboration of public radio stations in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with NPR. Beyond news, New Orleans Public Radio runs Classical 104.9 FM, a 24-hour classical service, and Jazz 89.9 HD3, and produces podcasts such as Sea Change.

The organization hires for newsroom roles such as reporters, editors and producers, as well as membership and development, underwriting, engineering and operations staff. Openings are posted on the WWNO careers page and filled through the university's Workday hiring system.
