Vincennes University Broadcasting (WVUT and WVUB)

Vincennes University Broadcasting runs WVUT-TV, an educational public television station on channel 22, and Blazer 91.1 WVUB, a 50,000-watt public radio station, from Davis Hall on the Vincennes University campus in Vincennes, Indiana.

Vincennes University Broadcasting is the public broadcasting operation of Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. It runs two noncommercial stations licensed to the university's Board of Trustees, WVUT-TV (channel 22) and WVUB (91.1 FM, "Blazer 91.1"), which share studios in Davis Hall on the university's main campus on North Second Street.

WVUT signed on in February 1968 as a National Educational Television station and joined PBS when the network launched in 1970. After state and federal funding cuts, the university ended WVUT's PBS membership on June 30, 2026. The station now airs children's, educational and cultural series from sources such as the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and American Public Television, alongside its own local programming: the student-produced newscast NewsCenter 22, the public affairs program 22 Magazine, First City Focus, and Part Of This Neighborhood, a children's career-exploration series that won a 2026 NETA Public Media Award. WVUT also runs education and community outreach at schools, libraries and community events.

WVUB went on the air in December 1970 and broadcasts at 50,000 watts with an Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) format, plus local and NPR newscasts and information programming. It also carries Vincennes University Trailblazer basketball.

Both stations are part of the Vincennes University Broadcasting Program and serve as a training ground for students, who gather and produce local news for radio and television alongside a staff of professional broadcasters. The staff includes engineering and broadcast IT, news, production and direction, programming, content, and education and community outreach roles.
