WCBU is Peoria Public Radio, an NPR member station at 89.9 FM licensed to Bradley University and operated by Illinois State University alongside WGLT. It serves Greater Peoria with local news from its newsroom on the Bradley campus and classical music on WCBU2.

WCBU is a public radio station and NPR member station in Peoria, Illinois, branded as Peoria Public Radio. It is licensed to Bradley University and has been operated since June 1, 2019 by Illinois State University and its Bloomington-Normal station WGLT under a management agreement between the two universities, which present WCBU as a public service of Bradley University and Illinois State University. The station went on the air on January 20, 1970, as the successor to WRBU, a student radio service at Bradley, and became an NPR member on December 1, 1974.

WCBU broadcasts at 89.9 FM with 26,500 watts from a transmitter in East Peoria, and its signal reaches nearly 1 million central Illinois residents. Its newsroom and studios are on the fourth floor of Morgan Hall on the Bradley University campus. The main channel carries local news during Morning Edition and All Things Considered alongside programming from NPR, American Public Media and the BBC, and local productions include the On Deck morning news podcast, the Out and About arts preview and the Fanfare newsletter. WCBU2, the station's HD Radio service, carries full-time classical music and is also heard in Peoria on 103.5 FM.

WCBU won the Illinois News Broadcasters Association's Crystal Microphone Award for best radio station in 2021 and 2022, and the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in 2022 and 2023. It is a member of the Institute for Nonprofit News and is supported by individual contributions, corporate underwriting and grants.

WCBU shares business and management operations with WGLT while keeping its own on-air and news staff in Peoria. Illinois State University manages the station's personnel, so openings are posted on the university's job site, often as shared WGLT and WCBU positions. WCBU hires reporters, hosts, audio and digital producers, correspondents, engineering staff and development staff, and offers internships and part-time extra help work for college students, including students at Bradley University and Illinois State University.
