Nashville PBS

Nashville PBS (WNPT, long known as Nashville Public Television or NPT) is the independent, community-supported PBS member station for Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky, reaching nearly 2.4 million people over the air and online.

Nashville PBS is the PBS member television station for Nashville and the surrounding region of Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Its main channel, WNPT (channel 8), is available free over the air to nearly 2.4 million people, and the station also broadcasts Nashville PBS WORLD (WNPT2), PBS KIDS on Nashville PBS (WNPT3) and Nashville PBS Create (WNPT4). Its programs stream on the PBS app, the PBS KIDS app, YouTube and wnpt.org, with a deeper library for members through Nashville PBS Passport.

The station is operated by its licensee, Nashville Public Television, Inc., an independent, community-funded nonprofit. It signed on in September 1962 as WDCN-TV, an educational station of the Nashville and Davidson County school boards, was spun out of the Metro Nashville school system in 1999, and took the WNPT call letters on February 22, 2000. Long known as NPT or Nashville Public Television, it rebranded as Nashville PBS in September 2024. Its studios are on Rains Avenue in Nashville.

Nashville PBS produces local series including Tennessee Crossroads, Volunteer Gardener and A Word on Words, and since 2012 has produced Christmas at Belmont, a holiday performing arts special carried by PBS stations nationwide. Beyond broadcast, it hosts community events, runs education and engagement programs that prepare children for success in school, and rents out its production studios.

Recent openings have included executive administration and corporate underwriting roles, and internships are offered through the education and engagement department when available. Openings are posted on the station's Jobs and Internships page, with applications sent by email to its staff.
