St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis Public Radio (KWMU 90.7 FM) is the NPR member station for the St. Louis region, a listener-supported service of the University of Missouri-St. Louis with an award-winning local newsroom, St. Louis on the Air, podcasts, and jazz and classical channels.

St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR) is the NPR member station for St. Louis, Missouri, and the surrounding region of Missouri and Illinois. It broadcasts on KWMU 90.7 FM, with jazz on its HD2 channel and classical music on HD3, and operates sister stations KMST 88.5 FM in Rolla, Missouri, and WQUB 90.3 FM in Quincy, Illinois. The station signed on June 2, 1972, as KWMU and adopted the St. Louis Public Radio name in 2009. Its studios are on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, its licensee; in February 2025 UMSL and Friends of KWMU, Inc. announced that governance and the station licenses will move to the independent nonprofit over a transition of up to three years.

STLPR is a nonprofit, listener-supported news organization. Its newsroom of nearly 30 journalists covers the St. Louis region, the Missouri Statehouse in Jefferson City and the Metro East, produces the daily talk show St. Louis on the Air, publishes original podcasts and digital reporting including the STL Welcome Kit, and is a founding member of the Midwest Newsroom, an investigative collaboration among public media stations in the region. Its reporting regularly airs nationally on NPR and Marketplace. The schedule pairs local news with national and international programming from NPR and the BBC.

The organization hires reporters, editors, producers, hosts and digital staff for the newsroom, along with development, marketing, events, membership, engineering and administrative roles, and runs a paid internship program in journalism, development, marketing and events. Staff positions are posted through the University of Missouri-St. Louis careers system.
