KEET PBS is the PBS member television station for Humboldt County and California's North Coast. It broadcasts on channel 13 from studios on Humboldt Hill Road in Eureka and is owned by Redwood Empire Public Television, Inc., a community-supported nonprofit.
KEET signed on April 14, 1969, from a garage studio in downtown Eureka, becoming the 162nd public broadcasting station in the United States. Its call letters stand for Eureka Educational Television. Its signal covers the Eureka and Crescent City areas, with translators serving Crescent City, Fortuna and Hoopa.
The station carries PBS programs such as Masterpiece, Frontline, NOVA and American Experience, produces local programming including North Coast Perspectives, a discussion series on topics that matter to the North Coast, and offers KEET Kids resources and PBS Passport streaming for members. Its mission is to use public media to present diverse perspectives which educate, inspire and entertain, and it aims to be an essential, trusted resource for more informed, inclusive communities in Humboldt County and beyond.
After a cut in federal funding, KEET ended its subchannels in October 2025 to focus on its main channel, and in 2026 it began moving to a cloud-based broadcast and transmission model with Public Media Management and Transmission Services Group.
KEET runs with a small staff covering production and direction, master control, membership, and development and communications. It has hosted production interns from Cal Poly Humboldt and College of the Redwoods, and it is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
