Delmarva Public Media is a collaboration of three public radio stations on the Delmarva Peninsula, WSCL 89.5, WSDL 90.7 and WESM 91.3, owned by Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Delmarva Public Media is a collaboration of three NPR member stations serving the Delmarva Peninsula of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Salisbury University owns WSCL and WSDL, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore owns WESM. The stations have served the peninsula for nearly 40 years, and on July 1, 2020 they began broadcasting collectively under the Delmarva Public Media name.
Each station keeps its own format. WSCL 89.5, Classical Delmarva, plays classical music around the clock. WSDL 90.7, Rhythm & News, carries local news, student productions and NPR news alongside a AAA music format that runs from Americana to zydeco, with homegrown programs plus World Cafe and XPoNential Radio. WESM 91.3, Jazz, Blues & NPR News, has broadcast from Princess Anne since 1987 with live hosted jazz, NPR news programs, local news, blues, soul, funk, R&B and music from around the world; its signal covers most of the lower peninsula, including the Eastern Shores of Maryland and Virginia, Sussex County, Delaware, and parts of Southern Maryland and Virginia's Northern Neck.
The Delmarva Public Media offices and the WSCL and WSDL studios are in the East Campus Complex at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. WESM's offices and on-air studio are on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus in Princess Anne. The organization also publishes local news and streams all three stations at delmarvapublicmedia.org.
Staff are employed through the two parent universities, and Delmarva Public Media's openings are posted on Salisbury University's online employment system. The team includes local news reporting and newsroom leadership, content and programming, underwriting and sponsorship sales, membership, volunteer coordination and on-air hosts, and the newsroom trains Salisbury University student journalists through internships and student-run newscasts.
