Delaware Public Media
Delaware Public Media is Delaware's NPR member station, a nonprofit newsroom broadcasting on WDDE 91.1 FM from studios on the Delaware State University campus in Dover and covering the First State online, on the DPM app, in podcasts and newsletters.
Delaware Public Media (DPM) is the first and only public media news service and NPR affiliate founded in Delaware, dedicated to covering the issues, events, personalities and culture of the First State. It broadcasts on WDDE 91.1 FM, streams online at DelawarePublic.org and on the DPM mobile app, and publishes podcasts and email newsletters. Its news staff is headquartered in Dover.
The organization traces its roots to 2010, when longtime Delaware journalists founded Delaware First Media and launched DFM News, an online news site focused on Delaware. WDDE signed on August 17, 2012 from studios and offices on the Delaware State University campus in Dover. DPM works in collaboration with Delaware State University and the University of Delaware but is run independently of both. Its license holder is Delaware First Media Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and DPM is a member of the Institute for Nonprofit News.
WDDE's signal from its tower in Felton covers Kent County and reaches into parts of New Castle and Sussex counties, and the station is working to expand statewide. Alongside NPR and American Public Media programs such as Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Here & Now and Marketplace, DPM produces local programming including The Green with Tom Byrne, Hometown Heroes with Mark Rogers, First State Mixtape and Money and Politics in Delaware.
Delaware Public Media is a small, mission-driven team. It hires for local news roles such as reporters, hosts and producers, for operations and programming, and for underwriting, membership and audience development. Openings are listed on its employment page, and applications go to jobs@delawarepublic.org.
