Nonprofit local news organization in Chicago, home to WBEZ 91.5 FM, Vocalo 91.1 FM and the Chicago Sun-Times. Its newsrooms reach more than 3.3 million people each week across broadcast, print and digital platforms.

Chicago Public Media is a nonprofit, mission-driven media organization headquartered at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1990 to operate WBEZ, it is the parent of WBEZ 91.5 FM, Chicago's NPR news station, the urban alternative music station Vocalo 91.1 FM and, since its 2022 acquisition, the Chicago Sun-Times. The organization describes the combination as the largest nonprofit local news organization in the nation.

Its stated purpose is strengthening the well-being of its communities and democracy through independent local journalism. WBEZ produces local, national and international news and a portfolio of podcasts, and its studios are the home of national programs including This American Life and Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!. WBEZ also reaches Morris, Kankakee and Elgin through WBEQ, WBEK and a translator. The Chicago Sun-Times, winner of eight Pulitzer Prizes, is known for investigative reporting, political coverage, sports analysis and cultural coverage.

Together, WBEZ and the Chicago Sun-Times reach more than 3.3 million people each week across broadcast, print and digital platforms, supported by roughly 85,000 WBEZ members.

Chicago Public Media hires reporters, editors and producers for its newsrooms, along with broadcast and master control engineers, product and digital roles, audience and revenue operations, institutional giving and development, marketing and administrative staff. Most positions are based in Chicago on a hybrid schedule, and the organization runs a six-month internship program twice a year.
