PRX is a nonprofit public media company specializing in audio journalism and storytelling. It was launched in 2003 through a collaboration between the Station Resource Group and Atlantic Public Media as the Public Radio Exchange, an online marketplace for distributing, reviewing and licensing radio programs. In 2018 PRX merged with Public Radio International (PRI), and the PRI brand was retired in 2019. PRX is headquartered in Boston with offices in Minneapolis and New York, and it is a 501(c)(3) organization.

PRX distributes public radio programs to stations across the country through the PRX Exchange and the PRX Remix service, with a broadcast portfolio that includes The World, This American Life, The Moth Radio Hour, Reveal and Snap Judgment. On the podcast side it publishes the Radiotopia network, home to 99% Invisible, Ear Hustle and Criminal, along with a roster of podcast partners. PRX Productions, introduced in 2020, is an in-house team of audio directors, editors, sound designers, engineers and producers that makes podcasts, broadcast shows and branded audio for partners. Its technology group builds Dovetail, the podcast hosting, distribution and advertising platform, and the PRX Exchange. Since 2016 PRX has also run training programs for journalists and storytellers moving into podcasting.

PRX has reported reaching more than 28 million listeners a month and generating more than 70 million podcast downloads a month. Shows across its portfolio have received recognition from the Peabody Awards, the Tribeca Festival and the International Documentary Association, and in 2022 Futuro Media and PRX won a Pulitzer Prize.

PRX hires across content and production (producers, editors, audio engineers), technology (software engineers, technical product management, IT), distribution and station partnerships, podcast marketing and audience growth, sponsorship and advertising sales and operations, development and fundraising, and finance and human resources. PRX describes itself as an equal opportunity employer, and its benefits package begins on the first day of employment.
