New York Public Radio

New York Public Radio is the nonprofit home of WNYC, WQXR, Gothamist, New Jersey Public Radio, WNYC Studios and The Greene Space, producing local news, classical music, podcasts and live events from its headquarters at 160 Varick Street in Manhattan.

New York Public Radio (NYPR) is an independent nonprofit media organization based at 160 Varick Street in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan. Its mission is to make the mind more curious, the heart more open and the spirit more joyful through excellent audio programming that is deeply rooted in New York. The organization serves New York City, New Jersey and the surrounding region on air, online and in person. WNYC has been on the air since 1924; New York City sold the WNYC stations to the nonprofit WNYC Foundation in 1995, and that foundation grew into today's New York Public Radio.

NYPR operates WNYC (AM 820 and FM 93.9), New York's public radio station, which broadcasts and streams news and public affairs, civic conversation, cultural programming and talk radio, including local programs such as The Brian Lehrer Show, All Of It and New Sounds alongside national and international programming from NPR and the BBC. WQXR-FM (105.9) is New York City's only all-classical station and brings live broadcasts from Carnegie Hall, the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera to listeners everywhere. New Jersey Public Radio extends WNYC's programming into the Garden State with regional journalism and public affairs coverage.

Gothamist is the WNYC newsroom's local news site, covering transit, politics and culture for the New York region through Gothamist.com, daily newsletters and the NYC Now podcast. WNYC Studios is the organization's podcast and national program producer, home to Radiolab, On the Media, The New Yorker Radio Hour and Terrestrials. The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, a street-level broadcast studio and venue in lower Manhattan, presents concerts, conversations and events to audiences in person, on air and online.

NYPR hires across live radio and podcast production, the WNYC/Gothamist newsroom, on-air hosting, classical music programming, live events, sponsorship sales, membership and major gifts fundraising, and the finance, HR, IT, legal, data and other teams that support them. Most roles are based in New York City and operate on a hybrid schedule. Open positions are posted on the organization's Jobvite careers site.
