Milwaukee PBS

Milwaukee PBS is the public television service for southeastern Wisconsin, operating WMVS and WMVT from studios on Milwaukee Area Technical College's downtown campus. On the air since 1957, it pairs PBS programming with local series and documentaries.

Milwaukee PBS is southeastern Wisconsin's public television service. It operates two high-definition broadcast stations, WMVS (Channel 10) and WMVT (Channel 36), along with four additional digital channels: Create, PBS KIDS, World and a weather and traffic channel. It is the region's only over-the-air source of PBS and other national public television programming, and more than 600,000 viewers watch its two primary channels each month across southeastern Wisconsin, parts of south-central Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

WMVS signed on October 28, 1957, as the nation's 28th educational television station, and WMVT followed in 1963. Both stations are licensed to the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) District Board, and the studios and offices are on MATC's downtown Milwaukee campus. The Public Television Committee of the MATC Board reviews station performance each month in meetings open to the public. Each year about 60 students in MATC's Television and Video Production associate degree program gain industry experience working alongside the station's professional staff.

Local productions include Outdoor Wisconsin, Around the Corner with John McGivern, Adelante, Black Nouveau, Rhythm Cafe MKE and The Arts Page, along with specials and documentaries such as The Making of Milwaukee. The station also offers the Speaking of... podcast, Milwaukee PBS Passport streaming for members, and community concerts, screenings and travel.

Milwaukee PBS positions are Milwaukee Area Technical College jobs, posted on the college's hiring site. The station hires for roles such as broadcast engineering and IT, television production, major gifts fundraising and corporate underwriting.
