KSFR

KSFR 101.1 FM is Santa Fe Public Radio, an independent public and community radio station licensed to Santa Fe Community College. It serves northern New Mexico with local news, BBC World Service and live music programs hosted by local DJs.

KSFR 101.1 FM is Santa Fe's public and community radio station, branded Santa Fe Public Radio and Northern New Mexico Public Media. Licensed to White Rock and based at Santa Fe Community College, 6401 South Richards Avenue in Santa Fe, it describes itself as independent public radio for northern New Mexico. Its mission is to offer independent, non-commercial programming that engages, enriches, inspires and entertains the diverse community it serves.

Santa Fe Community College holds the license. The FCC granted the college its original license on 90.7 FM in 1991. From 2001 the nonprofit Northern New Mexico Radio Foundation managed the station under an agreement with the college. In 2007 and 2008 the college swapped the 90.7 license for 101.1 FM, moving the station to a transmitter on Pajarito Mountain. On March 1, 2024, KSFR became part of the college again and the Northern New Mexico Radio Foundation was eliminated.

The 101.1 FM signal reaches from Taos in the north to Albuquerque in the south, and from Cuba in the west to Las Vegas in the east. Since February 2025 the KSQR repeater at 91.3 FM in Questa has carried KSFR programming to Taos, Questa and Red River.

KSFR News covers northern New Mexico with what the station calls the largest radio news team in the capital city, along with the KSFR Daily News Update, interviews and podcasts. National and international programming includes BBC World Service and Democracy Now!. The music schedule spans nearly every genre, with particular attention to New Mexico musicians. The news team won the Associated Press New Mexico Station of the Year award in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the New Mexico Broadcasters Association named KSFR Best Radio Station in a large market in 2015.

KSFR employs a small number of full-time and part-time staff and a handful of freelancers who prepare and broadcast its news, talk and music programming, supported by dozens of volunteers in every part of the operation, from on-air hosting to answering phones during fund drives. The station encourages people of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and backgrounds to apply for paid and volunteer positions, on air and behind the scenes, and posts its openings on its Job Openings page.
