KRCC

Southern Colorado's NPR station, broadcasting from Colorado Springs on 91.5 FM and a network of repeaters and translators. Licensed to Colorado College and operated by Colorado Public Radio since 2020.

KRCC is Southern Colorado's NPR member station, a non-commercial, member-supported public radio service based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It broadcasts news and talk programming from NPR and American Public Media alongside local news for Colorado Springs and Southern Colorado, and it is a member of the Mountain West News Bureau.

The station first broadcast on May 7, 1951, holding the first non-commercial FM license in Colorado. It was started by Colorado College professor Woodson "Chief" Tyree and became an NPR member station in 1984. Colorado College holds the FCC licenses for KRCC and all of its transmitters and translators. Under a partnership agreement announced in January 2020, Colorado Public Radio operates the station, KRCC's newsroom is part of the CPR News editorial structure, and the station continues to employ staff based in Colorado Springs.

KRCC 91.5 FM is simulcast on KECC in La Junta, KCCS in Starkville (serving Trinidad and Raton, New Mexico) and KWCC-FM in Woodland Park, with translators serving Canon City, Walsenburg, Westcliffe and Gardner, Salida and Buena Vista, Limon, Manitou Springs and Lake George. Its offices and studios are in the Southern Colorado Public Media Center at 720 N. Tejon St. in downtown Colorado Springs.

Beyond the broadcast, KRCC publishes the KRCC Weekly Digest newsletter, runs Peak Curiosity, which invites listeners to suggest stories about the region, and hosts summer news interns from Colorado College through the Colorado College Journalism Institute. KRCC staff include reporters, hosts, editors, engineers and development officers. Because Colorado Public Radio runs the station, KRCC openings are hired by CPR and posted on CPR's careers page.
