KERA is the public media organization for North Texas, operated by North Texas Public Broadcasting, Inc., a nonprofit based at 3000 Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas. It is the PBS and NPR member station for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the fourth-largest media market in the country, and reaches more than 5 million people each month across television, radio, digital and print.

KERA TV signed on in 1960 and carries PBS programming on channel 13 alongside the KERA Kids, KERA Create and KERA World subchannels and locally produced series. The organization also runs KXT 91.7 FM, the noncommercial adult album alternative music station it launched in 2009, and manages the classical station WRR 101.1 FM under an agreement with the City of Dallas. Its newsroom oversees the editorial team of the Denton Record-Chronicle and collaborates with The Texas Newsroom and other regional and national partners.

KERA produces the national daily interview program Think with Krys Boyd, the daily local news magazine NTX Now, and Art&Seek arts coverage, and distributes From the Top nationally. Digital properties include kera.org, keranews.org, kxt.org and think.kera.org, plus KERA Learn educational resources and the KERA mobile app. Funding comes from members, corporate sponsors, foundations and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
