Nevada Public Radio

Nevada Public Radio is the Las Vegas nonprofit behind News 88.9 KNPR, Classical 89.7 KCNV and Desert Companion magazine. Nevada's first NPR member station, it serves the state through a network of FM stations and translators.

Nevada Public Radio is an independent, not-for-profit public benefit corporation based in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was established in 1975, and its flagship station KNPR signed on in 1980 as Nevada's first NPR member station. Its studios are in the Donald W. Reynolds Broadcast Center on the West Charleston campus of the College of Southern Nevada.

The organization operates two FM stations serving the Las Vegas metropolitan area, News 88.9 KNPR and Classical 89.7 KCNV. With a total of seven FM stations, including KVNV in Reno, plus 11 translators and HD digital channels, its network serves more than 2.7 million people across Nevada and parts of neighboring states. It carries programming from NPR, American Public Media, PRX and the BBC alongside local journalism, produces the current-events program KNPR's State of Nevada, and publishes Desert Companion, a city-regional magazine focused on Southern Nevada. Its newsroom also includes a regional reporter for the Mountain West News Bureau.

Nevada Public Radio's mission is to enhance the quality of life and foster civic engagement by informing, educating and inspiring its audiences. It is supported by members, broadcast and online sponsorship, print advertising and foundation grants.

Staff work in news (editors, producers, reporters and hosts), programming and on-air (classical hosts and on-air hosts who run the board), audience engagement and graphic design, development and membership, corporate support sales and events, and HR, operations, IT and accounting.
