KUER is the NPR member station for Utah. Licensed to the University of Utah and a charter member of NPR, it has been on the air since 1960 and broadcasts from the Eccles Broadcast Center on the university campus in Salt Lake City. KUER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; most of its funding comes from listener contributions and support from corporations and foundations, with additional support from the university.

The station carries a commercial-free mix of NPR, BBC and local news on 90.1 FM, reaching listeners across the Wasatch Front and, through an extensive network of repeaters and translators, communities throughout Utah. Its HD channels add KUER-2 with the BBC World Service, KUER-3 with classical music and KUER-4 with Avanza. Everything streams at kuer.org and through the KUER mobile app.

The KUER newsroom covers politics and government, education, health, business and the economy, science and the environment, and Southern Utah, contributes to the Mountain West News Bureau and publishes news in Spanish. Local programs include RadioWest, the station's public affairs and interview program, along with the podcasts State Street, TreeNote and Utah News Now and the KUER Morning Brief newsletter.

Open positions at KUER are recruited through University of Utah Human Resources, with employment across administration, development, engineering, RadioWest, news and operations. Benefits include health, dental and wellness coverage, a 14.2% employer retirement contribution, a free Utah Transit Authority pass and University of Utah tuition reduction for employees and family members.
