PBS Utah
$17.00 – $18.50 / hour · Salt Lake City, Utah, US
PBS Utah (KUED) is Utah's PBS station, licensed to the University of Utah and based at the Eccles Broadcast Center in Salt Lake City, serving all of Utah and parts of four neighboring states on four broadcast channels and online.
PBS Utah is the PBS member television station for Utah, broadcasting as KUED on channel 7 from Salt Lake City. The station signed on in January 1958 from improvised studios in the basement of the University of Utah's student union, and it is still licensed to the University of Utah. After six decades under its call letters, KUED rebranded as PBS Utah in November 2019. Since KBYU-TV dropped PBS programming in 2018, it has been the only PBS station serving the state.
PBS Utah broadcasts four channels: PBS Utah HD (7.1), WORLD Channel (7.2), PBS KIDS 24/7 (7.3) and Create (7.4). Its main signal comes from a transmitter on Farnsworth Peak southwest of Salt Lake City and is carried across the state by transmitters in Richfield (KUES) and St. George (KUEW) and by a large network of translators and cable systems, reaching all of Utah and parts of Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona. Alongside the national PBS schedule, the station produces local documentaries and series, K-12 educational programs and community engagement work.
PBS Utah shares the Dolores Doré Eccles Broadcast Center on the University of Utah campus with its sister stations KUER 90.1 and Avanza 88.3, a bilingual station for Utah's Latino community whose frequency PBS Utah, KUER and the University jointly acquired in January 2024. Staff of all three stations are University of Utah employees, and openings are recruited through University of Utah Human Resources. The station hires for television production and studio crews, video editing, graphic design and marketing, sponsorship and development, and building and station operations.
