KSTK is the local public radio station in Wrangell, Alaska, serving Wrangell and the surrounding Stikine River area on 101.7 FM as Stikine River Radio. Its mission is to provide local news reporting, access for local voices and essential emergency services, with respect for Indigenous language and culture and a strong sense of place in rural Alaska as key values.

The listener-supported station carries local, regional, statewide and national news, including NPR programming, alongside music shows hosted by local volunteer DJs. KSTK is Wrangell’s LP-1 station, the first primary contact for Emergency Alert System messages, and it shares locally relevant information such as power outages and road closures. In 2026 it began a news partnership with the Wrangell Sentinel.

KSTK was founded in 1977 by the local nonprofit Wrangell Radio Group. Since 2018 its licensee has been CoastAlaska, the Southeast Alaska public media consortium whose member stations serve Juneau, Sitka, Petersburg, Ketchikan and Wrangell and which provides payroll, business administration, fundraising and engineering support. KSTK runs with a small local team in station management, development, programming and news, and its openings are posted on CoastAlaska’s job openings page.
